Artists in Volatile Landscapes

Sianlee Harris January 4, 2025

Artists in Volatile Landscapes is the culmination of creative development undertaken by 30 artists across NSW throughout 2022. Working across artforms and mediums, the artists have responded to the question, ‘What does the future look like in your region?’

Artists have engaged with experts from other fields and consulted with their communities to explore issues affecting their regions, revealing hopes and fears for the future. They have delved into complex themes of climate change, housing design, healing of Country, safe zones, sustainability, finite resources, renewable energy, acting now for the future and  listening better to the more-than-human world.

The outcome is a group exhibition that is provocative and contemplative; that raises critical questions and encourages us to think deeply about how to prepare for inevitable change and build resilience.

The project is an initiative of the NSW Regional Arts Network under the banner of ‘Regional Futures’ and is funded by Create NSW.

Artists: Alana Blackburn, Allison Reynolds, Andrew Hull, Anna Glynn, Caity Reynolds, Eden Crawford-Harriman, Grace Barnes, Hape Kiddle, Holly Ahern, Ian Tully, Idil Abdullahi, Jacob Charles, Jane Richens, Joanne Stead, Jodie Munday, Juanita McLauchlan, Julianne Piko, Kim V Goldsmith,  Kit Kelen, Kris Schubert, Kristin Rule, Laura Baker, Mike Terry, Riana Head-Toussaint, Ronnie Grammatica, Scott Baker, Sian Harris, Tania Hartigan, Tracy Luff, Yanhadarrambal Jade Flynn.
